Xebec Logo

Xebec is a Canadian-based company with offices all over the globe. Their mission is to decarbonize the world by accelerating the production of renewable gases. Xebec acquired companies, such as Hygear and Inmatec, and needed to create unified messaging and visuals that highlighted the strengths of its expansion. A new logo was designed to solidify the companies as one. To keep some of the former companies’ visual languages, the logo icon color applied to each is different and draws from their previous brand colors.

Logo Concept. The letterform “x” creates an intersection of convergence and divergence, illustrating both coming together and expanding reach outward. The “x” icon combines a directional arrow and hexagons, the latter of which can represent the molecule methane, the simplest form of organic carbon. The arrow is powered by breaking down and reducing carbon, illustrated by hexagons breaking off as the arrow moves forward.

Color Concept. True blue was the only color in Xebec’s previous logo. With an emphasis on concept-driven color selections, the new palette is an energetic pairing of dark blue + orange to communicate confidence, power, and trust + creativity, change, and energy, respectively. Orange is not often used in the renewable energy space and helps Xebec stand out visually. Division colors are fresh, spring colors, which are a symbol of progress and growth.

Type Development. Pursuing an uppercase + lowercase approach with curved, geometric forms for the Xebec logotype contrasted with the hard edges of the icon and provided a softer, organic tone. Sans-serifs are clean, modern, and have an easy-to-recognize sensibility that makes them suitable for both the Xebec and subtext/division type.

Previous Logo. For comparison, this is the existing logo Xebec had before any design work was completed.
